Hair help please?

My hair is shoulder length, dark brown, layered and naturally wavy. I've got a full fringe too.

Normally I'd straighten it, but my straighteners died and annoyingly I lost the box (and the warranty).

So, it's either buy new straighteners or embrace the wave. I'd love my hair to look like this (top left): http://www.flickr.com/photos/strewn/3452...

But my hair's quite thick so it just ends up going poofy...

If i try more layers/thinning then I just seem to get more volume on the top which makes the poof even worse.

Does anyone know how I can make my hair look like the picture instead of a giant poofball, or will I just have to buy some new straighteners?

your hair will need to be in reallly good condition - try treatments and leave in conditioners. You will need to stay away from hairdryers too.it depends on how curly /wavy/kinky your hair is weather it will look like the pic , but what i do if i want a more wavy soft everyday look (instead of looking like a witch) is wash my hair early (so it has plenty of time to dry) put a straightening lotion in- not a spray for straighteners ,but one thats supposed to make blow drying easier VO5 has a great one comb through put a parting in ,side fringe and let dry naturally -and no touching or pushing off the face cos then you can get a really heavy straight bit or a frizzy bit - try it it really works

You could try blow drying your hair and using a hairbrush so you can style it while you dry it. So it wont be poofy =]

You hold the dryer one side of your hair and the hair brush the other side then slowly go down your hair.

well i had my hair cut few weeks ago it was long thick and wavy now i have it like Victoria Beckhams hair and the top of it is very poofy so i looked on ebay for straighteners and i got a pair for 鎷? so Ur best bit is to get more hair straighteners hope this was helpful
