Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Even with the earlier Disney movies, only a few of the princesses do not have blonde hair, and whenever you see pictures of princesses they usually have blonde hair and blue eyes. Why is this? Is it because most fairy tales come from the Grimm brothers in Germany and a lot of German people are blonde? Kind of a random question, but I've always noticed it and wondered about it lol.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Well, blonde are more fair haired looking, and princesses are supposed to fair/beautiful looking. Blonde hair also have a cheerful look, and princesses are supposed to cheerful looking and not the mistresses of darkness.

On another note, Nordic tales also feature lovely ladies as plump looking.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

ptlomee is the only one who realized that Cinderella is NOT actually a princess, but some sort of "royalty" VERY far removed from the throne.

Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White %26amp; Ariel are all TRUE princesses that didn't have to marry to become so - %26amp; there is only one dark blonde in the bunch. Report It

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Only Cinderella? Bell had brown hair [even though she technically wasnt a princess] Snow white had black The Little Mermain had Red

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Because usually blondes are considered the choosen one, however everyone knows brunettes have it going on.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

The first Disney 'Princess' had black hair..

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

i dont know...but u make a good point

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

thats not true look at snow white she has black hair

but i supose thats just what story writers think princess should look like. Lol i have blonde hair and blue eyes i wonder if i look like a princess

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Belle (Beauty and the Beast) was brunette...Princess Jasmine, Snow White.... The Dutchess of York was a redhead (Fergie), and of course, Princess Lea from Star wars was brunette..... and the blonde ones arent' always the brightest.... why didn't Cinderella move out?.... why didn't Rapunzel tie her hair to the bed, climb down it herself and then cut off the pony tail? ....

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

There were only two disney princesses with blonde hair. Aurora and Cinderella. What are the other ones?

Wait I left out Odette from the swan princess

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

cinderella's the bomb... and blondes are the best =)

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

I was told, when I was small, that princesses had fair skin and hardly ever went into the sun. It caused freckles and no prince wanted a wife with tanned skin. Something about royalty.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

It`s because a long time ago blond hair and blue eyes was very rare so if someone had those features then they would be like "Oh wow they're different" right? and I think they thought they looked like princesses or something.

And it just stayed that way

Now people just die their hair and make their eyes blue by getting lenses... but a long time ago it was rare...

I think.... ahah

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

wow i kinda just noticed that lol. Well, maybe the reason is, what you said, that the fairy tales came from the grimm brothers in germany or writers just assume that blonde haired blue eyed princesses are more prettier and more "princessy" or more "feminine, lady like"

Germany閳墲itler閳墣ryan閳墪londe閳?br>

Perhaps...

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Disney Princesses:

Princess Snow White - Caucasian - Black Hair, Brown Eyes

Cinderella - French - Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes

Princess Aurora - Caucasian - Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes

Princess Ariel - Caucasian Merfolk - Red Hair - Blue Eyes

Belle - English - Caucasian - Brown Hair - Blue Eyes

Princess Jasmine - Arab - Black Hair - Chestnut Eyes

Princess Pocahontas - Nativw American - Black Hair - Black Eyes

Mulan - Chinese - Black Hair, Black Eyes

Princess Tiana - African American - Black Hair - Brown Eyes

*hmmm. seems a bit diverse to me... not all the disney princesses are of german coloring, actually, only two of them are. Growing up I had my Pochahontas (sp?) doll and my Jasmin Halloween costume, and my aladin movies, and al sorts. I think it was when the movies actually came out that the toys were produced. but after they became clasics the american toy manufacterers massproduced the friendly white dolls. even in the cabbage path dollls and such, i'll see 20 some ot' dolls and for every twenty there is one lightly tan skinned baby dolls, but their the hardest to spot/find. if it wasn't for dora the explorer i would of given up, but now the toy manufacterers are putting her in the kitchen in a princess dress, and in high heels in the jungle, it's sickening! save your children!

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Disney princesses are diverse, but what about the Barbie movies? I've watched several of those hideous productions with my daughter and I have noticed that the heroine of each movie is always the blonde one. Although brunettes may have a supporting role, I don't think any other race of Barbie has even been portrayed in the movies. I have no idea why not. :(

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

I think your statement is actually incorrect. The princesses, even Disney-fied, have hair colors ranging from black to red to brown to blonde. Also, most of the fairy tales were "borrowed" by the Brothers Grimm but originated elsewhere.

Even if you're just looking at Disney movies:

Princesses:

Snow White - black hair (German story - She has always had black hair... a bit vampire-like with her white skin and red lips.)

Cinderella - light reddish brown hair (French story, although older variants exist from Greece and China - Her hair color depends upon which version, but is never mentioned specifically.)

Sleeping Beauty's Aurora - blond hair (French story, derived from an older Italian variant - Her hair color is never specified, but paintings show her with red or brown hair.)

The Little Mermaid's Ariel - red hair (Danish story - Her hair color is never specified, but the original model for the famous statue in Denmark had dark hair.)

Aladdin's Jasmine - black hair (Arabic story - Jasmine is a Disney re-creation. The princess' original name was Badroulbadour and her hair color is never mentioned, but since the story is of Arabic origin, one can assumed it would be dark colored.)

Pocahontas - black hair (True story based on a Native American woman. Pocahontas (later known as Rebecca Rolfe) was an American Indian and did have dark brown or black hair.)

Non-princesses:

Pinocchio's Blue Fairy - blue hair (Italian story - She historically has blue hair.)

Alice in Wonderland - blond hair (British story - Alice, who is not actually a princess, has always been blond, but her character is based on Lewis Carroll's nieces so her hair color may have matched theirs.)

Peter Pan's Wendy - brown hair (Scottish story - Wendy's not actually a princess, but in various versions and productions of the story, her hair has been blond, brown and black.)

Beauty %26amp; The Beast's Belle - brown hair (French story (There are two versions, one of which claims that Beauty is not really a merchant's daughter but the offspring of a king and a fairy.) - Hair color is unspecified, but she is often depicted as a brunette.)

Hunchback's Esmeralda - black hair (French story - Esmeralda is a Gypsy and therefore has dark hair.)

Hercules' Meg - brown hair (Greek myth - Hercules chased anything in a skirt in the real stories and Meg didn't exist, although her permutations ranged from 8 to 80, blind, crippled or crazy.)

Mulan - black hair (Chinese poem (VERY loosely based on the Ballad of Mulan) - She is depicted as having black hair, like most Chinese.)

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

blondes have more fun, its true, I am blond, a guy and racist? Nah strike the last bit, I would believe anything, I just had a hair cut?

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

I don't really know about the disney movies. As others have thoroughly explained, only a few had blonde hair.

Here's what I think:

I think that the "perfect" stereotype is blonde hair. Princesses have blonde hair, because they are "perfect". But guess what? NOBODY is perfect!!! Most girls with that gorgeous blonde hair that everyone envies have dyed it to get that "perfect" shade. Not to be discriminating against people who dye their hair blonde or anything. I'm just saying that not everyone is blessed with that shade that doesn't come from a bottle! I say that it's a good thing that the disney princesses are of different ethnicities and have different hair colors, because they weren't perfect. None of them. They all had problems, too. So why not completely get rid of that "perfect" stereotype and be happy with who we are? No matter how many times you have been treated like a perfect princess, I'd lose the perfect.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

I think that goes along with "Tall Dark and Handsome" why does a man have to be tall and dark to be handsome?

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

princess jazzmine has black hair

ariel has red hair

snow white has black hair

yay

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

NOT ALL OF THEM!!!! GOSH!!!!

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Just came back from Disney World last week... the only princesses that had blonde hair there were Cinderella and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). So yes, the early ones did generally have blonde hair.

Snow White - black

Ariel - red

Belle - brown

Jasmine - black

Pocahontas - black

Mulan - black

I think you may be on the right track with regard to the "why" of the matter... these princesses came out of european fairy tales and Disney appears to make an effort to keep the characters in the context of the lands they came from. Certainly a blonde Pocahantas wouldn't seem right!

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

they just thick it is easy to picture

a Blondie

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

cause blonds are amazing

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

stereotypes

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

I think Cinderella and Auroro had blonde hair,

Ariel-red

Snow-White -Black

Pocahontas -Bloack

Jasmine-Black

Belle-Brown

Its pretty typical..blonde's look hot..!!!!nd blonde are chicks who are damn attractive and attract people!

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

maybe Blondie's suite the huge dress they often wear.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Thats a good question...Not all princesses have blond hair.Snow White doesn't or Belle.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

IT IS CALLED RACISM, I think recenlty there was something on tv about how excited people were when a black Barbie came out, what was the excitment about? It should have been done years back?!

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

Blonde and blue-eyed girls and the most prettiest...thats why.

But I can only recall Cinderella and Repunzel.

Why are princesses usually depicted with blonde hair?

It's because Walt Disney was a Nazi.

I'm serious, he used to invite Hitler to all his cocktail parties.
